Be respectful.

Sanitize your hands before entering the mat.

Address Black Belt instructors as “Professor” and all non-black belt instructors as “Coach”.

When leaving the mat, wear sandals, especially to the bathroom. No bare feet off the mat! This will avoid transferring germs on to the mat.

Dirty feet are not allowed on the mat. Please wipe your feet with the complimentary wipes at the front. Any dirty feet will be asked to step off the mat and clean their feet.

Only water or sports drinks are allowed in the studio in designated areas. No drinks on the mat.

No coaching your kids & No athletes coaching athletes. Only Phillips Jiu Jitsu staff are to coach..

No phones on the mat.

Rash guards must be worn under gi’s. For no-gi class, rash guards and spats or gi pants are required. 

Keep fingernails and toe nails neatly trimmed and clean.

All uniforms, gi and no-gi class, must be clean. You will not be allowed on the mat if your gi is not washed and clean and dry.

If you have a bacterial, viral, or fungal infection (ringworm, staph etc) stay home until you have been cleared by your physician and given permission by the instructor to return to class.

No Makeup. Makeup can stain gi’s and the mat.

Remove ALL jewelry. This includes wedding rings/bands, necklaces, earrings, and bracelets. 

No foul language and non-jiu jitsu chatter on the mat.

If you are late to class, wait for Professor to invite you on to the mat.

Be supportive and encouraging of your teammates.

Treat others the way you would like to be treated.
